MEET THE PLAYERS

MARK GALE - SOPRANO SAX

Originally I started my music career as a Trombonist, after reaching grade 8 and going off to Uni, the Trombone took a back seat to my real passion, the Saxophone, after picking up an Alto sax I have never looked back since. I have played with many bands, ranging from school and university groups through to playing with a semi pro band called Slightly Chilled. I moved onto the Soprano sax about 5 years ago and love the sound it has, my passion is the sax and I play all 4 of the major Saxes. We have a fantastic group of 4 players here and the sound we have is unique to the Saxahollics brand. Many thanks for checking out our website.

FELICITY PELLANT - ALTO SAX

I have been studying music since I was 11 years old when I first picked up an alto saxophone. Within the last 6 years, I have worked my way to grade 8 standard and am due to take my exam in March/April. In this time I have also learned numerous other instruments, namely piano and clarinet and I am due to take my grade 6 in both instruments in the up-coming months.

I play in a number of different bands including St. Neots Concert Band, NYJO (National Youth Jazz Orchestra), the indie band ‘The McTaggarts’, and of course Saxahollics saxophone quartet.

I am a music student at Cambridge Regional College, studying a 2 year National Diploma in Music Practice and hope to conclude my studies with securing a place at university studying music.

SALLY GOGNA- TENOR SAX

My first instrument was the piano and while at school I also played the oboe in Leicestershire Schools Concert Band. After a ten year break from performing I took up the saxophone and after I reached Grade 8 started doubling on the clarinet and later took up the flute. I have been a soloist on both alto saxophone and clarinet for the Charnwood Music Concert Band, and lead tenor sax for Staunton Wind Orchestra. I also played in Charnwood Music Saxophone Quartet, and the Judy Nicol Big Band and Quintet on tenor sax, and conducted the Charnwood Music Beginners Band. After a second break from music while I had my 2 children I am now having a great time performing again with Saxahollics. I am also a woodwind teacher for Fenland Music Academy, and run a female voice choir called the Friday Girls.

ALEX FRYER - BARI SAX

I began playing flute around the age of 8 and took up singing and playing piano a few years after that. After many years playing flute in various ensembles I took up my biggest passion - playing the oboe. I began saxophone about half a year after the oboe and I was lucky enough to come across a baritone sax which I love playing. Along with the quartet I play in “slightly chilled” a Huntingdon based swing band and Huntingdon Concert Band, sing tenor in my school choir and oboe, alto sax and flute in the various other ensembles and orchestras. One of which is “Huntingdonshire Symphonic Wind Orchestra” which I am a co-founder and chairman of. I’m currently at Hinchingbrooke school sixth form studying, performing arts, music and music technology. Saxahollics is a great group and I’m really enjoying playing with them.
