MEET THE PLAYERS

MARK GALE - SOPRANO SAX

Originally I started my music career as a Trombonist, after reaching grade 8 and going off to Uni, the Trombone took a back seat to my real passion, the Saxophone, after picking up an Alto sax I have never looked back since. I have played with many bands, ranging from school and university groups through to playing with a semi pro band called Slightly Chilled. I moved onto the Soprano sax about 5 years ago and love the sound it has, my passion is the sax and I play all 4 of the major Saxes. We have a fantastic group of 4 players here and the sound we have is unique to the Saxahollics brand. Many thanks for checking out our website.

BERDEL GULSEN- ALTO SAX

Berdel is young and very talented Alto sax player. He is the newest member of the quartet who is also a brilliant clarinet player. He is the youngest member of the group at only 16, but he has a huge impact on the sound that we have.

EMILY BLACKWELL- TENOR SAX

My passion for music began at the age of 5 when I started to learn the Piano. A little later I picked up the clarinet and saxophone, both of which I love, and I passed my grade 8 on all 3 instruments during my school years. I graduated from Nottingham University in 2006, where I studied music, and majored in performance on the clarinet. I then started a career in teaching and am now a secondary school music teacher. Saxahollics has been a fun and exciting experience, and a wonderful opportunity to perform in public again.

ALEX FRYER - BARI SAX

I began playing flute around the age of 8 and took up singing and playing piano a few years after that. After many years playing flute in various ensembles I took up my biggest passion - playing the oboe. I began saxophone about half a year after the oboe and I was lucky enough to come across a baritone sax which I love playing. Along with the quartet I play in “slightly chilled” a Huntingdon based swing band and Huntingdon Concert Band, sing tenor in my school choir and oboe, alto sax and flute in the various other ensembles and orchestras. One of which is “Huntingdonshire Symphonic Wind Orchestra” which I am a co-founder and chairman of. I’m currently at Hinchingbrooke school sixth form studying, performing arts, music and music technology. Saxahollics is a great group and I’m really enjoying playing with them.
